Shadows of the Gullah Geechee Exhibit Reception and Author Talk March 23, 2018

The South Carolina State Library is currently hosting an exhibit entitled Shadows of the Gullah Geechee.  This exhibit showcases the photography work of Pete Marovich which explores the lives and culture of the Gullah Geechee people in communities from Hog Hammock on Sapelo Island, Georgia to Mosquito Beach on Sol Legare Island, South Carolina.

New Digital Collection: McColl High School Yearbooks

Join us for a free informational webinar on Wednesday March 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. on how to use Mobilize. The State Library offers new, updated discussion groups with Mobilize - an online community social space, member directory, and an outreach center - all in one place. Learn which groups are of interest to you and your staff, how to register and send a message to the group, and how to log in to the Mobilize site to chat with other group members and manage your account profile and settings. 

Read-In 2018 will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018

This annual event, sponsored by the South Carolina Association of School Librarians and the South Carolina State Library, lets students show why kids who read succeed. Each year, a specific theme is selected by the planning committee. Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite book to read on the State House grounds after the event and some even dress as their favorite literary character.
