South Carolina State Library partners with Division of Technology Operations on Statewide E-Rate Training

Agencies seek to increase knowledge and confidence among school and library applicants participating in the E-Rate program.

Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina State Library and the South Carolina Department of Administration’s Division of Technology Operations will partner together to host a quarterly virtual meeting for schools and libraries who seek to participate in the federal E-Rate program. The first quarterly E-Rate virtual meeting will take place Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at 11 a.m.

New Year, Newly Updated Discus Website

The South Carolina State Library is pleased to announce the new and improved Discus websiteDiscus – South Carolina’s Virtual Library is the “information place” for all South Carolinians. Discus, which stands for Digital Information for South Carolina Users, provides free access to an electronic library that’s available 24/7. Discus is a collection of subscription databases with an array of resources ranging from books and magazines to maps and videos.

Union County Carnegie Library Prepares for Renovations

The project will include the restoration of the original, historic section of the library which was built in 1905; the addition of meeting spaces, study rooms, and partnership spaces for collaborations designed to make the library an integral community hub; the finishing of the lower level for expanded children’s and teen’s spaces, including an early learning resource center in collaboration with First Steps.
