The Laurens County Library had a very successful summer children’s series with several special guests. The theme was Get a Clue @ Your Library.
The Friends of the Laurens County Library funded special guest appearances. Programs, held at both the Clinton and Laurens libraries, included the weekly story times for infants ages birth through five and the summer reading club for children in the first through sixth grades.
David Warren, executive director of the Richland County Public Library, recently presented South Carolina Representative Nathan Ballentine, with a plaque from the South Carolina Association of Public Library Administrators for his work to increase state funding for public libraries.

WASHINGTON - The Clintons are donating $100,000 to a South Carolina library to be named after one of Hillary Rodham Clinton's mentors, Marion Wright Edelman.

Welborn for a lunchtime program on Thursday, June 28th, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Welborn, author of Traveling Literary America and America’s Best Historic Sites: 101 Terrific Places to Take the Family, will speak on “Traveling Literary America: Taking a Twain Ride, Pursuing Peripatetic Poe, Hunting Hemingway Hideaways.” The event will take place at the South Carolina Center for the Book, located at the South Carolina State Library at 1430 Senate Street, Columbia.
