Hundreds of school children from across South Carolina will gather at the State House on Thursday, April 11 to celebrate reading at the 2013 SC Read-In. This annual event, sponsored by the SC Association of School Librarians and the SC State Library, lets students show why kids who read succeed. The theme of the event celebrates reading and encourages students to continue reading.
This week Talking Books Services patrons have been experiencing delays in their book deliveries. We are aware of the issue and apologize for any problems these delays have caused. We are currently working with the postal service to remedy the situation.

The State Library's Information Services department is pleased to offer another session on how to use online resources to track legislation.
This is a 2 1/2 hour class designed to familiarize users with ways to follow the process of legislation. Attendees will look at resources to find legislators, track bills, and find laws and statutes for both South Carolina and the U.S.

A wrong turn leads Richardson to a new career and deserved recognition.
Sharon Richardson never anticipated that a wrong turn she made more than 10 years ago set the stage for being named Charleston County Government's 2012 Employee of the Year - the highest award given annually to the person who best represents the county's more than 2,000 employees.
By 2011, Japan and 186 other countries had signed the World Heritage Convention pledging to the world that they would preserve the designated significant natural and cultural sites within their lands for future generations.
This exhibition highlights the remarkable structures and landscapes that Japan has committed to preserving.
