The South Carolina State Library is pleased to announce the Everyday Literacy Toolkit at the DayByDaySC Family Literacy Calendar website. This online toolkit organizes booklists by reading level, provides links to reading success cards, STEM resources, and much more! Be sure to visit the DayByDaySC website and explore these great resources.

The State Library’s Talking Book Services is hosting an informational workshop on Tuesday October 3, from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. for library staff, educators, and others who work with individuals who are blind or low vision. Participants will learn ways to accommodate patrons or students as well as agencies to contact when they encounter someone in need of services.

By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship. The books featured during Banned Books Week have all been targeted with removal or restrictions in libraries and schools. While books have been and continue to be banned, part of the Banned Books Week celebration is the fact that, in a majority of cases, the books have remained available. This happens only thanks to the efforts of librarians, teachers, students, and community members who stand up and speak out for the freedom to read.

The South Carolina Digital State Documents Depository provides access to publications produced by state agencies and state-supported academic institutions. These publications provide citizens with crucial information about state government, including statistics, annual accountability reports, and data on a wide variety of topics related to the state.
