Richland County Passes $59 Million Library Bond Referendum

On Tuesday, November 5, Richland County residents passed a $59 million library bond referendum--65 to 35 percent. It will enhance and redefine 10 of its 11 Richland Library facilities into true community centers focused on learning and access to technology. This is the first time in 24 years that voters were asked to approve additional capital funds for the library system.

New ebook Collection Announced

The South Carolina State Library is pleased to announce the addition of more than 87,000 academic ebook titles to its online collection. Joining the Alaska State Library and the Missouri State Library, the library is now the third state library in the country to subscribe to ebrary's Academic Complete collection of research-oriented ebooks.

State Agency Accountability Reports

Did you know that the South Carolina State Library receives copies of the state agency Accountability Reports? These official reports are sent to the General Assembly and copies are provided to the South Carolina State Library. The reports detail how state agencies have used funds allocated by the state legislature, the federal government and/or other sources for the citizens of South Carolina.

Spartanburg County Public Libraries Announce Renovation of Barnet Children's Library

The Spartanburg County Public Libraries announces the renovation of the Barnet Children's Library at the Headquarters Library in downtown Spartanburg. Financial gifts totaling $135,000 from two local family Foundations and the Friends of the Library will fund the renovated space. The renovation is tied to the Every Child Ready to Read initiative.
