Storytime on the Spectrum @ Your Library
Starting in September, the Pickens County Library System will begin Storytime on the Spectrum, a monthly, evening storytime geared towards children with special needs and their families. Parents, children, and other caregivers can listen to stories, play games, and create simple arts and crafts projects.

Anderson Library is Harry Potter Books Launch Site
The Main Library of the Anderson County Library System, 300 N. McDuffie St. in Anderson, will be one of 15 privileged library sites in the country to celebrate the unveiling of the 15th Anniversary Edition of the Harry Potter novels with their new cover artwork created by Kazu Kibuishi. The launch party will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27.
Spartanburg County Public Libraries Receives Award
On Tuesday, August 13, 2013 the Spartanburg County Historical Association Board of Directors presented the Peggy T. Gignilliat Award for Historic Preservation to the Spartanburg County Public Libraries, in recognition of their efforts in preserving blueprints, drawings and plans which document the history of Spartanburg County's architecture.

State Library Sponsors Food Drive August 12-23
Hunger is a problem affecting the elderly and the young, the healthy and the sick. Harvest Hope and its member agencies work with people in need from all walks of life. From parents working minimum wage jobs struggling to put food on the table to retired couples who have trouble paying for expensive medications, hunger is a reality for a growing number of South Carolinians.
Books Available to the Public
As part of its collection development plan, the South Carolina State Library will be recycling used library books from its collection to make room for new and updated titles.
