Greenville County Reads encourages discussion and builds community through literature. This year, the library system celebrates the literature of Clyde Edgerton with a series of programs based on his works. He is the author of ten novels, a book of advice for fathers, a memoir and numerous short stories and essays.

The Spartanburg County Public Libraries is sponsoring the 1st Annual Juried Art Exhibition that will be on display from August 5th - September 27th, 2013 in the AT&T Exhibition Lobby at the Headquarters Library. Entries for this event were accepted from April 1 - June 1 of this year.

Discus (scdiscus.org), South Carolina's Virtual Library and StudySC (studysc.org), the South Carolina State Library's educational website that provides online content to support South Carolina-specific curriculum standards have been updated in time for the new school year. Featuring a new look, these educational websites are now easier to access from a tablet or smartphone.

Educators and librarians across the state are invited to register for two free webinars to be hosted by the South Carolina State Library. These sessions will review useful educational iPad applications and address how they can be used in educational and library programs.

Francis Marion University Library Acquisitions Coordinator Yvonne Davis recently received the Ethel Bond Memorial Consumer Award from the National Association of Community Health Centers, Inc.
