Experience the first annual Fall for Reading 2011 program at the Spartanburg County Public Library. Each month from October through December, join us for coffee and conversation with the author. Featured at these events are three unique authors with diverse backgrounds and writing.

The Richland County Public Library Foundation has awarded the second annual Ethel Bolden Minority Scholarship to Gabrielle Marshaé Dudley. A reception honoring Dudley was held on October 13 at the Main Library, with a special presentation by Ethel Bolden's son, NASA Administrator Charles F. Bolden, Jr.

October 16-22, 2011, is the fifth annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries week making it a good time to publicly thank your local library's Friends group members who contribute so much of their time and expertise to significantly enhance your library's services. National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing on November 1. The goal is to write a 50,000 word, (approximately 175 page) novel by 11:59:59, November 30.
